People buy too many things without considering the production process and the conditions faced by workers in developing countries during that production. They either don't think about it or refuse to. This problem needs more attention.
For example, the wiring in earphones contains copper. This copper is mined in copper mines. The workers who work there perform hard labor in dangerous conditions. By using earphones, people disconnect from their surroundings and, with it, from the problems of the world.
THE DESIGN
With this design, I bring the experience of these poor conditions directly back to the user with sound through the earphones. In one earphone, you simply hear the song you're listening to, while in the other ear, you hear a soundscape of the miners' experiences. This will cause irritation, because people generally just use their earphones to listen to music and don't want to listen to these poor conditions. Because the music comes through one ear and the soundscape through the other, the user can remove the earphone with the soundscape and simply listen to the music alone. This proves to the user that they don't want to listen to the workers' poor conditions and confronts them with the fact that more attention needs to be paid to the poor working conditions of workers in developing countries.
